 | Western Shore Party
Date of Event: April 12, 2008 (Saturday)
Time: 6:30pm - 10:00pm
Location: Glenn Dale Golf Club
Address: 11501 Old Prospect Hill Road, Glenn Dale, MD Tel.: 301-262-1166 On stage: The Diamondheads surf band. More info here.
Marlow's View: Must be a club of wusses. Took the wife out of the box
for an evening of suds and sounds. The Diamondheads played well and
even got a chance to visit some of the ASC that have been sentenced to
house arrest for a long time. Saw Gary and wife, Neal and wife, Rod and
wife, Foon and wife and even got to chat with EZ. The SF girlies were
there in force and wiggling to the music. I would say that you all
really missed it, but you might have crowded me if you had attended.
Foon's View: Good to see many I have not over the winter. Diamondheads
were excellent and so was the good company and munchibles. Mrs. Foon
was a trooper and attended though afflicted with a sinus headache. She
thought dancing with Rodrigo would cure her. She was wrong. Looking
forward to this weekend of ASC and OCSF events. Sorry we had to leave
early but I spent my quota on SF shirts and hats.

(Volunteer Coordinator: Paul Moos)
Location: Assateague National
Seashore - Oceanside Group Site
Assateague
is wonderful in the Spring! The water is warming, the air is crisp but
no longer
frosty. No bugs. Late winter swells can still happen this time of the
year. Pleasant camping and pleasant (sometimes
fabulous!) surfing. The site is located just south of the North parking
lot/ranger station. We will have one of four sites there. Plenty of
parking. You will need to carry your camping gear in about 100 yards. | Anything But Three - East

Event: May 4, 2008 (Sunday)
Time: 10:00am
Location: Harvey Cedars, Long Beach Island, New Jersey
Formerly known as NJ Fish Fry, the AB3-East
is a gathering of alternative board riders and craftsman. Think of it
as a hot rod show where you get to take the cars around the block for a
spin. Check this blog for updates on boards getting built for the
event. http://www.anythingbut3east.blogspot.com/ |

Ride for a Cause Surf Contest Weekend (for the March
of Dimes)
See the reports and pictures link here.
Date of
Event: October 10-12, 2008 (Friday-Sunday, the contest is on Saturday; ppd from Oct 4 to Oct 11 due to flatness)
Location: Sandbridge, VA
(just south of VaBeach)
Volunteer Coordinators: Rod Rodgers, Gary Lay
This will be ASC's second time participating in this fun-oriented surf
contest that raises funds for the March of Dimes (now called the March for Babies).
This year the ASC is sponsoring two teams in the Team Surf Division,
Team Lunch Tray (paipo, properly known as the "Chris Harazda Memorial
Team") and Team Statue.
Chris Harazda is the former brother-in-law of new member, Kokomo. Chris was a well known paipo rider along the Space Coast. The following divisions are:
1) Team Surf. The entire team surfs together. Each team member’s
highest score will be added to the team’s final tally. Each team member
must fill out their own entry form and specify as to which team they
belong. Six (6) people per team! No specific board requirements.
2) Old School Longboarding. Classic old school tricks will be scored
the highest (i.e., headstands, dying cockroach, etc.). Retro longboards
are not required. Regular tricks will be scored but the judges want to
see you go old school.
3) Open Switch Stance Longboarding. Break out your log and ride it opposite stance from normal!
4) Shortboard Open. Ride your sickest potato chip and go big!
5) Paipo Open. Surf Kayak. This event welcomes are paddling bros and sisters.
6) Quad Shortboard Open. Ride a four-finned board! ASC's
Austin Saunders, owner of Austin Surfboards, is a sponsor.
If you are entered in Team Surf you can also enter other divisions
without addtional entry fees - however, you need to indicated which
division on your entry forms (Contact Rod as he is coordinating the
fees/entry forms).
Last year, in addition to placing 7th in the team
contest, our members were the top three fundraisers. We rented an
oceanfront beach condo for a 3-day surf 'n fun weekend.
Please Sponsor a Member from the Roster of the Annapolis Surf Club's Two Teams!
